Course Description

This course focusses primarily on an extremely useful type of chord for the guitar known as drop 2 voicings. All you really need to know at this point, is that they will give your guitar chord playing a beautiful new sound as well as unlocking advanced chords and your fretboard knowledge. This course takes you through all the inversions of every type of 7 chords using just under 20 different but easy-to-play shapes. We use clear video demonstrations as well as chord diagrams, notation + TAB and funky backing tracks to help you become familiar with these chords and to get using them in a musical, real-life setting, right away.

Make your chords go further

Then, using these same shapes, we will learn a few simple ways to use these chords as substitutions to make different types of 6 and 9 chords – no new chord shapes required! After we have become familiar with the fundamental chords through more jam tracks and the fretboard, through a ‘find the notes’ playalong exercise, we will learn how moving just one or two of these notes up or down a couple of frets can unlock all types of 11,13 and altered dominant chords. We go through these alterations step-by-step and practice them over a one note vamp track, available in every key.
